First blog post; hi.

It has been a while since touching web development but here I am back again, using astro and nakking (nakken is crude dutch for stealing, then I conjugated the word according to my knowledge of English) a beautiful template made by this guy.

It was nice because it was set up as-if Nikola Tesla owned this portfolio website.

Framework: Astro

You have two people, those that talk about frameworks incessantly, and those that “just stick to what works”, and then you have a third that does both, or something.

I decided to keep my website in the astro framework because of its ergonomics and flexibility. There is probably not much else.

Themes

A bonus is that there are very nice people out there that provide ready-made themes for you to use. This makes setting up some website a lot easier.

Over the years I’ve found to re-invent wheels many times, and although a learning experience every now and then, for this website I didn’t want to do too many crazy things and just have something to build around with.

I’ve listed some that I liked.

nikola tesla - by iann-mathaiya

Nikola Tesla Portfolio is an Astro template built with of course Astro 5.7, React 19 and TailwindCSS 4

This is the theme I used for this website.

astro-air - by sun0225SUN

minimalism, personal blog theme for Astro

Just a great classic-looking theme if I say so myself :)

astro-theme-spaceship - by aitorllj93

“Publish your Obsidian vault to the web with Astro and TailwindCSS. ”

Obsidian and Astro integrationist theme.

The spaceship theme aims to make sharing your obsidian notes through your astro website seamless.

I am unsure whether I wanted to do this, but the look of it was very nice!
